Parent-Child Relationships
For many of us, the relationships we share with our children are the most precious in our lives, but they can also be the most challenging. The responsibilities and demands of our busy and sometimes distracted lives often mean that we do not share the best parts of ourselves with our families. Over time, unresolved conflicts, misunderstandings, and misinterpretations can lead to painful arguments and power struggles. I support parents, their children and teens in learning to communicate effectively. I help them learn to understand the issues beneath the conflict so they can relate more clearly, learn to respectfully manage conflict in their relationships, and spend more time enjoying each other. I often ask children and teens what they would like to change in their lives. Surprisingly, they often reply that they want more time with their parents. Making that time together a positive experience leads to less stress and better outcomes for the entire family and makes life far more enjoyable.
